Eye Spy with Island Batik

I was just driving by, and what did I spy?

Why a box on my porch, caught my little eye.

There were errands to run...
oh me oh my!
I so, want to open this little guy.

Upon my return, I ripped open my package...

So many treasures, the brand new fall lines you see.

Here's a sneak peek, of the fabrics,
lots of projects I see.

So hang in there with me, I'll have plenty to show.
Cause I can't stop creating
don't cha know don't cha know!

I Can Share...

It seems like I've gotten nothing done this summer...
but I have been working on things.
I can now share these two beauties with everyone.

Are they just about the cutest things you have ever seen?
My friend Kathie over at "Prairie Cottage Corner" has been busy designing fun things for us!
I'm not sure if it's the adorable bird and bunny that catches my eye, the fun flowers, or those wonderful top and bottom borders...
but combined they are nothing short of FABULOUS!!!!!

The roomy boarders give you plenty of room to play with quilting.

Yep you can say I'm in love with these delights!
Psssst...
I've got it on good word that Kathie is busy working away, putting the finishing touches on these patterns. You might want to hop over and put yourself on the waiting list. This is so, hot off the press, that there aren't confirmed names just yet, but I think Prairie Meadow Bunny and Prairie Meadow Bird are close!

I Escaped!

Back to my happy place!
While it was cool and rainy most of the time...
We took advantage when the sun came out to make a trip to Homer.
Even before the sun came out we had gorgeous views of the inlet.

There is just something about this place where the glaciers run right down to the sea!
It really is my "perfect" happy place.

We marveled at the tide pattern in the sand.

Then hustled back to shore as the tide was coming back in.

The marina was full and all the boats were in.

My favorite shot of all...
9PM on the Homer Spit.
It just doesn't get better than this!

There was lots of rain...
but that brings lots of flowers

We stopped by the Normal Lowell Gallery in Anchor Point.
It's one of my favorite places to take photos.

In addition to the gallery, you can walk the grounds and visit their old homestead home.

We've come a long way since these days!

Look at this find in the homestead!

What a beauty!

Sadly it was time to head home.
I took Grant Aviation back to Anchorage.

Can't say I'd ever seen a plane with the safety information card stitched into the seat back!

Mt Redoubt was visible across the inlet.

It's prime time fishing season up there.
Our pilot flew us over the mouth of the Kenai to take a look at all the crazy people!
LOL!!

Midnight departure from Anchorage.
The sun is just setting.

Oh Baby with Island Batik

The Island Batik Ambassador challenge this month is all about "Baby".
There's nothing as bright and fun for baby, than a "blankie" make with these great fabrics.

I used my "Accuquilt GO" owl die for the animals on this quilt.
You've gotta love that you can use this one die, to make all these animals and more.
The ric-rac border is a new die that I treated myself to.
I see lots of possibilities with this die in future projects.

Part of the fun of batiks, are how well they play together. The pinwheels are make from "Pressed Petals" line. I used a stamp pack (5" squares) for them.
The background and borders are from the "Blushing Blooms" line.
The tight weave of batik fabrics makes them a perfect fit for not only fusible applique, but also those quilts that will be washed over and over again.

I had to take it outside in the sunshine to show off, just how fabulous the colors in these fabrics really are!

You can check out all the new lines at Island Batik
