Planes Trains & Automobiles Island Batik Blog Hop

Have we see some incredible things with the new
lines of Island Batik fabrics?

Our line today is

Coming to a shop near you in Jan/Feb

There is just something about the visual textures
of these fabrics, that just tickle my toes.

It really shows on this dark background.

This table runner is "Greased Lightening" from Tiger Lily Press.
It 's 15" x 60" size fits nicely on then biggest of tables.

It's a fast and fun little runner to make.

These fabrics are perfect for many things.
My fellow ambassadors have more for you to see today.
Hop on over and give em a visit!

Ohhhh...
I see a great beach scene...
Oh, maybe a trip the the beach!

My Blog Hop Winner!

First off let me start with a big apology for not posting this
yesterday as promised.
My internet went down last Thursday, and I was promised
that a new router would be sent over-night to me.
Lets just say that it's Tuesday which was way past
the overnight arrival!
Uggggh, but its fixed now.
:-)

Without further ado...
Random.org has chosen #80 as the winner of these lovely
fat quarters from the London Fog collection at Island Batik.

requesting your mailing info.

A big thanks to all who visited and left such sweet comments.
This hop has been "sew" much fun.
My fellow ambassadors are just

Planes, Trains & Automobiles Island Batik Blog Hop

You know it's gonna be great when "Island  Batik" hosts a blog hop.
It's that time, when you get to see the new fabrics that are starting to hit the shelves.  I start to drool, just thinking about it!
:-)
A big thanks to Katie and all the great folks at "Island Batik" for hosting this hop and sharing these fabulous new lines with us!
"Island Batik" has some great give-a-ways, for you too!
Oh, and I have a lil somethin up my sleeve!

***********************

I had the privilege of working with this new line by Kathy Engle
I couldn't have picked it better if I had to try.
All my favorite deep rich colors were in there.

For this hop, we are going to take a little train ride.

On the "Zoo Train" that is!

This 49" x 56" quilt brings miles of smiles.

The sweet little animal faces, make children of any age
want to jump on board!

There is so much "fun" detail in this quilt.
But it's these fabulous batiks that make it just...pop!

Note: I've pulled some fabrics from other lines,
get a nice variety of colors! :-)

Batik is definitely my favorite fabric to work with
when I have this much detail.
It's also perfect for raw edge applique. The tight weave
makes for very little fraying.

For those located in the Denver area, you can take this train to
"Wooden Spools". (It's linked for you)
Well OK, maybe not this train... but they do love Island Batik there, and this line should be in stores in Jan/Feb. Give Vicki a call for availability in the shop.

I had big plans for a give-a-way, until I broke my wrist.

But with the help of friends, who kindly cut some fat quarters for me...
I will be giving away this selection of London Fog, and a couple other surprises, to 1 lucky person who leaves a comment on my blog telling me what your favorite Island Batik line is!!!

You can see them all right
 HERE
(Along with some fabulous new quilts)

I will pick my winner next Monday Feb 22.
Make sure you are NOT a no-reply blogger!
;-)
The great folks at Island  Batik have a give away for you too.
Make sure you visit daily and enter below!
The full schedule is on my previous post or

                                              Keep on Stitchin'

Valentines Wishes

Caring is sharing...
and that's just what we did!

When the daughter of one of our United quilters,
started making Valentines for the "Meals on Wheels" group...
We wanted in on the fun.

We've enjoyed each others company, quilting for almost a year now.
Our weekly stitching and and giggle-fest, is tops on my list.

Joi, suggested that we make tissue holders to go with the
Valentines, and the sweatshop began!
:-)

Deb

Joi

and yours truly
started an assembly line.

We went from a few, and it grew and it grew...

Before we knew it, we had a whole slew...

That would be 200 to be exact!
:-)

Here's sweet Jessica with the "loot" to be delivered!

While she had to go back to school,
her Mom (Deb) and Grandma delivered them on Monday.
Needless to say the "Meals on Wheels" folks were
blown away!

Sending best wishes for a very happy Valentines day to all!

;-)

Life as a Newbie Lefty

If you read my post a week ago, you know that I fell and broke my right wrist.   All is well, other than my learning how to do things 1 handed.
I must admit, it's not been nearly as difficult as I thought it would be.

I've learned to use the knees to grip things, like my yogurt cup, so I can mix it up!   LOL!!  Who knew?

Worst part of it all, is the time I can't use to quilt!

I mentioned that TV was not my strong suit, and after a shocking round of Hoarders, I just couldn't do it any more.  :-)

I've found that it's the weekends that are the worst!  I can keep myself entertained during the week with local stations.

Just look at some of my weekend choices!!!!!
Good grief!
Looking good naked in 90 days!
hahahahahaha
If only.....
It's more entertaining, trying to take photos of the TV schedule I think.
LOL!

Since the knee thing worked out so well, I decided to work on taking out the papers on all these paper pieced "Wild & Goosey"  blocks.

There is somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 of them.

The knees work so well that, that darn Suzanne Sommers and her Thighmaster, got nothing on me!
Heck, maybe there's something to that looking better naked in 90 days.

I'll let you know on that front, but don't have high expectations.
Tee hee!!!

Today my BFF took me up to our favorite quilt shop.
It was crazy busy, in there today.
Probably all the Super Bowl widows, getting ready for tomorrow.
I bought 3 yards of fabric for the sashings for these Wild & Goosey guys.
I told them I needed it cut into 1 1/2" strips.
Now, I'm not sure if it was the looks on their faces, or the looks of all the others in line waiting to get their fabrics cut, that was funnier!!!
It was hilarious though!
Just doin' my part to entertain!
:-)

Thanks to all who visited during the "NUTS" blog hop.
A big congrats to Janis Truesdell, for winning the
$25 gift certificate from the Fat Quarter Shop,
for leaving a comment on my post.
I do hope your following this hop.
The compete schedule is on my previous post.
Ironically, I had just written my post hours before I broke my wrist.
Whew!

Stay safe, and happy stitchin!
:-)
